Kimberle and Landon Davis are the authors of children’s books with heartfelt messages, especially for small children and families of mixed descent and heritage. Their first book, “Yellow and Blue: A One-of-A-Kind You” was inspired by their own mixed-race daughters and their coming together as a family despite different religious beliefs, cultural backgrounds, and race. As life long advocates for prison reform, Kimberle (a social worker) and Landon (an attorney) both work in criminal justice and are dedicated to instilling all children with self-confidence and pride through creative story telling.
A family of five living in Oakland, California, the Davis’ are currently navigating the beautiful chaos of raising their 4-year-old daughter Simone and 18-month-old twin girls Audree and Elita. In their very limited spare time, they enjoy food, outdoors, sleep, and their all time favorite guilty pleasure: trash reality TV. They love to travel and explore the world; thus far, their favorite travel destinations have been Portugal and Morocco. They hope to continue to add to that list over the course of their lifetime, and share their love of travel with their children as their daughters grow older.
Kimberle is a former English and Psychology major with a passion for writing, and Landon an artist who loves drawing and digital arts. Though Landon is eager to add a male pet to a household full of females, Kimberle can barely fathom taking care of anything other than her children and her plants. Landon remains hopeful for a fish.
The couple’s biggest accomplishment to date is completing their first children’s book, which took four years to make amidst their demanding careers and parenting responsibilities. They are now working on a follow-up book and have exciting plans for a third book, as well as a dream of creating a short animated film one day. As Landon likes to say, “There is only one way to eat an elephant; a bite at a time.”
